ITALY BEFORE THE FIRST WORLD WAR

Italy at the beginning of the 20th century was called the Kingdom of Italy. After the death of Humberto I, his son Victor Manuel III began his reign in the year 1900. His main objective was always to unify Italy and have a great empire. In 1911 the Italian-Turkish War took place, with which Italy managed to take over not only many territories in Turkey, such as Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, but also on the African coasts that were closer to Italy.

His first two decades of reign were characterized by his little intervention in politics and the respect he had for the back then Italian Constitution.

In politics they stood out: the liberals of Giovanni Giolitti and the conservatives of Antonio Salandra. He allowed the development of parliamentarism. Between 1901 and 1913 the president was Giovanni Giolitti. Some of its measures were: the modernization of the liberal state and reforms of social nature.
